How difficult is Dreamweaver?
It is a moderate alpine route with sustained steep snow and a few short ice steps. The biggest challenges are the long day, the altitude, and moving efficiently on steep terrain.
When is the best time to climb Dreamweaver?
Spring usually offers the firmest snow and most stable conditions. Earlier in the season the route can be icier and avalanche conditions are more variable.
Why do we start so early?
Firm snow is safer and faster to climb. Starting in the dark lets us finish the couloir before the sun warms the slope and softens the snow.
How should I prepare?
Our Snow Climbing Class or Spring Alpine Intensive covers the crampon, ice axe, and self arrest skills that make Dreamweaver more enjoyable.
