Who is Ice Intensive II for?
Ice Intensive II is for climbers who already understand basic ice movement and want to progress toward leading, anchors, and bigger ice objectives. It is a natural next step after Ice Intensive I or similar experience.
Do I need to be ready to lead ice?
You do not need to be ready to lead independently, but you should have basic ice climbing experience and comfort moving on top rope. Guides use mock leading and practice systems before considering any real lead progression.
What skills are covered in Ice Intensive II?
The course focuses on efficient movement, ice screw placements, anchor building, route reading, lead belaying, mock leading, rappels, and introductory multi pitch ice systems.
Will I lead climb during the course?
Possibly, but it is not guaranteed. Whether anyone leads depends on conditions, terrain, experience, and guide judgment. Ice leading carries serious consequences, so progression is handled conservatively.
How should I prepare before the course?
Spend time on basic ice movement if possible, arrive with good winter clothing systems, and be ready for full days outside. If you have your own ice tools, crampons, boots, harness, or helmet, bring them for your guide to inspect.
