Do I need rock climbing experience first?

No, previous rock climbing experience can help with comfort on a rope, but it is not required. Guides teach the basic crampon, ice tool, movement, and safety skills needed for the day. We often find that those with previous rock climbing experience have to learn a little bit differently since they are used to using their feet a certain way.

Is all equipment is provided?

Technical climbing equipment can be provided, including helmet, harness, crampons, ice tools, and other required group gear. Personal winter clothing is not provided and guides will give you an idea of what to bring. We typically recommend what you might wear skiing or winter hiking but maybe your cheapest waterproof pants in case you snag them.

How cold will the day be?

Ice climbing happens in winter conditions, so you should expect cold temperatures and periods of standing still between climbs. Bring warm layers, gloves, food, water, and footwear appropriate for snow and ice. That said Colorado has fairly mild temperatures compared to some places we climb so
