Who is Ice Intensive I for?
Ice Intensive I is for new ice climbers who want more than a short introduction. It is ideal for beginners, rock climbers, or winter travelers who want a structured two day progression.
Do I need previous ice or rock climbing experience?
No, previous ice or rock climbing experience is not required. The course starts with movement fundamentals and builds toward more confidence, efficiency, and understanding of ice climbing systems.
What skills are covered over the two days?
The course typically covers crampon technique, ice tool swings, body position, belaying, top rope systems, movement efficiency, route reading, safety habits, and repeated coached practice on appropriate ice.
How is this different from Intro to Ice Climbing?
Intro to Ice Climbing is a shorter first experience. Ice Intensive I gives you a couple days of coaching and repetition so the movement and systems have time to develop.
What should I bring?
Bring warm winter layers, gloves, food, water, and any personal climbing gear you already own. Technical ice climbing equipment can be provided if needed.
