Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Climbing International, a Colorado Limited Liability Company doing business as The Colorado Climbing Company] ("Colorado Climbing Company," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and shares information when you visit coclimbing.com (the "Site").
This policy covers the Site only. It does not cover the separate booking and payment platforms we use, which handle your information under their own privacy policies. See Section 5.
If you do not agree with this policy, do not use the Site.
2. Information We Collect
Information you give us directly
Contact and inquiry information. If you email us, fill out a contact or inquiry form, or otherwise reach out, we receive your name, email address, phone number if you provide it, and whatever you choose to tell us about your climbing goals, experience, dates, or party size.
Chatbot conversations. If you use the AI chatbot on the Site, we and our chatbot provider receive the messages you send and any information contained in them.
Email list signups. If you subscribe to our email list, we receive your email address and any other details you submit at signup.
We do not require you to create an account, and the Site has no user accounts or user-generated content.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, we and our analytics and advertising providers automatically collect:
IP address and general location derived from it, such as city and region
browser type and version, operating system, and device type
pages viewed, time spent on pages, scroll and click activity, and navigation paths
the referring website or search terms that brought you here
date and time of your visit
This is collected through cookies, pixels, tags, and similar technologies. See Section 6.
Information we do not collect
We do not process payments on the Site. We never receive or store your credit card number, bank account details, or other payment credentials through the Site. We do not collect Social Security numbers or government ID numbers through the Site. We do not knowingly collect precise GPS location.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
respond to your inquiries and communicate with you about trips, instruction, availability, and scheduling
operate, maintain, and improve the Site and its content
understand which routes, conditions reports, and pages are useful, so we can write more of what people actually read
send email newsletters, trip announcements, conditions updates, and promotions, if you have subscribed
measure the effectiveness of our advertising and marketing
detect, prevent, and address technical problems, fraud, abuse, and security issues
comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use
We do not sell your personal information for money.
4. Legal Bases and Advertising Disclosure
Some privacy laws treat sharing data with advertising and analytics providers for cross-context behavioral advertising as a "sale" or as "targeted advertising," even when no money changes hands. Our use of the Meta pixel and similar advertising technologies may fall into that category.
If you are a resident of Colorado, California, or another state granting these rights, you may opt out of targeted advertising. See Section 9.
5. Third-Party Services We Use
The Site relies on the following third parties, each of which handles information under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.
Google Analytics (Google LLC). Website analytics. Collects usage and device data through cookies to help us understand Site traffic. You can opt out across all sites using Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
AIVA Integrations. AI chatbot provider. Receives and processes the messages you send through the chatbot, along with associated technical data, in order to generate responses. Do not enter sensitive personal information, medical details, or financial information into the chatbot.
Meta Platforms, Inc. Advertising pixel and conversion measurement. Collects information about your visit and activity on the Site and may associate it with your Meta account for ad targeting and measurement.
Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.). Email marketing. Stores subscriber email addresses and tracks whether emails are opened and which links are clicked.
The Guide Network and FareHarbor. Booking platforms. When you click through to book, you leave the Site and transact on their platform. They collect the information needed to process your booking, which may include your name, contact details, participant information, emergency contact, and payment details.
Stripe and Intuit QuickBooks. Payment processing and invoicing, handled off the Site. They collect and process payment information directly under their own terms.
[WEB HOST / CMS PROVIDER]. Hosts the Site and maintains server logs that may include IP addresses and request data.
We may add, change, or remove providers. We will update this policy when we do.
6. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. The Site uses:
Essential cookies, which are necessary for the Site to function and cannot be turned off through our Site.
Analytics cookies, set by Google Analytics, which help us understand how the Site is used.
Advertising cookies and pixels, set by Meta, which support ad targeting and measurement.
Functional cookies, which may be set by the chatbot to maintain your conversation session.
You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them. Blocking cookies may cause parts of the Site to stop working correctly. Browser-level controls apply per browser and per device, so you would need to set them everywhere you browse.
Do Not Track. Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no industry consensus on how to respond to it, and the Site does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals.
Global Privacy Control. Where required by law, we honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as an opt-out of targeted advertising and data sharing.
7. How We Share Information
We share information:
With the service providers listed in Section 5, to the extent needed for them to perform their functions.
With professional advisors, such as our accountant, insurer, or attorney, when needed.
When legally required, including in response to a subpoena, court order, or lawful government request, or to protect our legal rights.
In a business transfer, if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, in which case information may transfer as part of that transaction.
To protect safety, where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to prevent harm.
We do not share your information with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.
8. Data Retention and Security
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law, tax rules, or insurance obligations. Email inquiries and booking correspondence are generally retained for our records. Email list subscribers are retained until they unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained according to the settings in the relevant platform.
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
Everyone. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link at the bottom of any email, or by contacting us. You can control cookies through your browser. You can opt out of Google Analytics using the link in Section 5. You can adjust ad preferences in your Meta account settings.
Colorado residents. Under the Colorado Privacy Act, you may have the right to confirm whether we process your personal data, to access it, to correct it, to delete it, to obtain a portable copy, and to opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, and certain profiling. You may appeal a denial of a request.
California residents. Under the CCPA and CPRA, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and disclose it, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of sale or sharing. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Residents of other states. Similar rights may apply under your state's law, and we will honor them where required.
How to exercise a right. Email info@coclimbing.com with your request and enough information for us to locate your records. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before acting, and we may decline requests where an exception applies.
10. Children's Privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you are under 18, use the Site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. Minors cannot book our services independently. A parent or legal guardian must complete the booking and provide any participant information for a minor.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact info@coclimbing.com and we will delete it.
11. Information About Trip Participants
If you book a trip, the booking platform will collect participant information, which may include emergency contacts and health or medical details relevant to safety. That information is collected and stored by the booking platform under its privacy policy, and we access it to plan and safely run your trip.
We use participant health and emergency information only for trip safety and emergency response. We do not use it for marketing.
If you provide information about another person, including a minor or a member of your party, you confirm you have the authority to do so.
12. Out-of-State and International Visitors
The Site is operated in the United States and intended for a United States audience. If you access it from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your location.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Changes take effect when posted, and we will update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be noted on the Site. Review this policy periodically.
