Who is the Mixed Climbing Technique Clinic for?
This clinic is for climbers with some rock or ice background who want to learn how to move on rock and ice features using tools and crampons. It is a good introduction to dry tooling and mixed climbing movement.
Do I need ice or rock climbing experience first?
Some ice or rock climbing experience is helpful, but the clinic can be adjusted for first-time mixed climbers. You should be comfortable wearing a harness, following guide instructions, and spending the day in winter conditions.
What skills will we practice?
Common topics include dry tooling movement, hooking, crampon footwork, edging, body position, balance, resting, transitions between rock and ice, and choosing appropriate mixed terrain.
