How will this help my ice climbing?

If you feel like your progress has stalled and you're looking for focused coaching this will help identify any technique issues. Guides will also discuss physical training so you can continue to progress outside your day.

Would this be a good class if I'm a strong rock climber but haven't done much ice climbing?

If you have the basic knowledge of belaying and tying in as well as the physical capacity to manage steep and overhanging rock climbing then this will likely be a reasonable class. Since private classes are customized we will spend some time with introductory skills like how to swing the tools and put on crampons but will likely progress quickly into more advanced technique since basic movement on a rope isn't a new concept.

Is this a good progression towards leading ice?

Absolutely, since movement skills are a large part of your security when leading ice the ability to feel confident and manage muscle fatigue in steep ice will dovetail nicely with helping feel confident during a Learn to Lead Ice course.

Does this course cover any screw placing or anchor building skills.

All of our private courses are customized based on the clients goals. While this isn't really the focus of this curriculum talk to us about what you're hoping to get out of the day and we'll see how we can incorporate it or adjust the curriculum to meet your needs.
