Which route do you climb on Blanca Peak?
Blanca Peak can be climbed by its standard route from Lake Como or by the more technical Gash Ridge from the Huerfano Valley. Guides help choose the route based on your experience, goals, and conditions.
Can we climb other peaks on the same trip?
Yes. Blanca Peak links naturally with Ellingwood Point, and experienced climbers may add Little Bear Peak. A third day on the itinerary gives room for a linkup when conditions allow.
Do I need a 4WD vehicle?
The Lake Como road is rough, and the more capable your vehicle, the shorter the approach. Your guide may have a capable vehicle, but the best option is usually renting a high clearance 4WD vehicle at the airport. Walking more of the road is possible but adds time and effort to the trip.
When is the best time to climb Blanca Peak?
Blanca Peak is typically climbed from spring through fall. Late summer and fall bring drier conditions for ridge routes, while spring can offer a more mountaineering style climb with lingering snow.
