Why is North Table Mountain good for beginners?
While the approaches are steep the climbing area is compact so you don't have to move around a whole lot. The climbs are relatively short with big holds that make it less intimidating for beginner climbers. It has easy access to the top of the cliff that makes it a good teaching venue for anchor building as well.
Can you really climb at North Table in winter?
Often yes, the sunny exposure and lower elevation make it one of the better Front Range winter rock climbing options when conditions are dry. The dark rock also and way the walls reflect the sun make it much warmer than you might expect. Generally it's too hot in the summer because of this.
Is this close to Denver and could you use public transportation?
North Table Mountain is about 20-30 minutes outside Denver. You could take the train from Union Station to Golden and walk about a mile to the main trailhead.

Inclusions
North Table Mountain is one of the first obvious places you could climb as you drive from Denver to Golden. The cliffs sit above Golden with steep approaches, lots of sun, and a practical mix of routes that work well for new climbers and people building outdoor experience.
The area is especially useful in cooler months because the dark rock and open exposure catch sun when many higher elevation crags are still snowy or cold. For families, gym-to-crag climbers, and corporate groups, North Table offers a simple way to get outside without committing to a long mountain day.
With it's location near Golden it makes a good before work place to climb and can be a good place to combine with Clear Creek when the weather is warm enough for some sunny rock climbing before moving to the shady ice further up canyon.
