Sundance Buttress stands as one of the premier climbing destinations at Lumpy Ridge. The clean granite formation with classic crack systems, quality rock, and a position above the tree line that delivers views deep into Rocky Mountain National Park on every pitch. As the farthest formation at Lumpy Ridge it is a sought after objective for climbers coming from the Front Range.

The routes on Sundance Buttress combine sustained crack or slab climbing with route-finding demands that reward experience and technique in equal measure. With our familiarity with the area we can aim for the best lines for your experience level. The granite is featured and varied with crack systems giving a good variety of climbs like Cajun Capers (5.6) that can be great for beginner climbers to harder, sneakier routes like Turnkorner (5.10).

Lumpy Ridge sits just north of Estes Park at the edge of Rocky Mountain National Park, making it an easy destination to build a full day or weekend around. The approach through ponderosa pines and open meadows below the buttress is long but enjoyable as the climbing itself, and the combination of quality rock, classic routes, and one of Colorado's great mountain town settings makes the Sundance Buttress tour one of our most rewarding guided climbing days.
