Some of the trailheads require 4WD that I don't have. How will we get there?
There are a couple options. Often your guide may have a capable vehicle but they're not going to want to put their daily drive on these rough roads frequently. A better option is to simply ask for a jeep or truck rental at the airport to help transport you and the guide to the upper trailheads and make for an easier trip.
When is the best season to climb?
It truly depends on the objective and the type of experience you're hoping for. Climbing something like Gash Ridge or Ellingwood Arete we often want the dry, storm free conditions common in the late summer and fall. For a more mountaineering experience or couloir climb the consolidated snow of the spring may be better. For alpine ice routes it may be better for the fall.
I've never camped before. Are these 14er climbs a good objective for me?
We appreciate people being upfront with us on skills they feel where they may lack so we can be sure to help prepare them for the objectives and ensure they have adequate equipment. Because all of our trips include group camping equipment it makes it a more accessible adventure so you can do it without dropping a bunch of money on all the equipment at once before you understand what you need.
The weather is looking rough, am I just out the money if the weather is bad?
The safety of our guests is our primary concern. While we are also trying to run a profitable business our goal is to try and accommodate our customers. If we feel the weather is too hazardous to be able to successfully do the climb we have a couple options. If you have the flexibility and the guide is available we will do our best to reschedule with you around the near future. If you have to leave town or it doesn't look like things will happen we can either try to find a different objective with better conditions or keep it as a credit for future climbs.
