Who is Explorers Youth Camp for?
Explorers is for older, experienced youth climbers who are ready for a more immersive climbing adventure. It is best for returning campers or young climbers with enough maturity for longer days outside and more complex terrain.
Does my child need previous climbing experience?
Yes. Explorers is not a first-time climbing camp. Campers should have a solid climbing foundation, be comfortable following guide instructions, and be ready for longer days with more responsibility. Ideally we have previously met them through the Senders program.
What makes Explorers different from the other youth camps?
Explorers combines technical climbing, bigger terrain, camp or travel logistics, teamwork, and mountain judgment. It is more immersive and advanced than Cliff Hangers or Senders.
Will campers do overnight or expedition-style activities?
The exact format depends on the itinerary, conditions, and group readiness. Explorers generally includes some travel, camp logistics, longer objectives, or more self-sufficient days when appropriate.
How do guides decide what objectives are appropriate?
Guides consider weather, terrain, camper ability, group maturity, and overall risk. The priority is giving campers a meaningful adventure while keeping the plan appropriate for the group.
