Crack and Slab Technique Instruction

When it comes to outdoor climbing certain techniques like face climbing and roofs can translate pretty well from indoor climbing. Rarely though do people understand the nuances of two particular techniques. Slab climbing and crack climbing technique are two areas where many climbers struggle. by working with a climbing guide at one of the many areas across Colorado we can help climbers find the balance and technique to ascend these features with more confidence and style. Improving one's climbing movement skills is also hugely beneficial when learning to lead so the leader can focus on the other aspects of leading outdoors and not have so many issues with confidence on the rock itself.

Climbing Skills You'll Learn

While rope skills are certainly important the ability to know the techniques to cleanly ascend different types of terrain so during these climbing classes we’ll teach participants to:

  • Utilize proper foot placement and body alignment to maintain balance.
  • Different hand placement techniques for different size cracks.
  • Important techniques to maximize friction on seemingly featureless slabs.

After taking this climbing course participants should notice an improvement in their confidence on cracks and slab climbs.
