Climbing in the Intermountains

Between the well known crags of the Front Range and the deserts of the Western Slope lie the mountains that Colorado is so well known for. The climbing here combines the quiet solitude of the Western Slope with the pleasant weather of the Front Range thanks to the altitude. Locations dot the hills and are listed by the nearest town which means they are great for those seeking a multisport experience. A lot of times in the spring and fall you can ski or climb ice in Lake City for the morning before chasing some sun at Hartman Rocks in the afternoon. While it may be better known for the trekking trips or 14er climbs these rock climbing areas are definitely worth a stop for a relaxed day on the ropes.
