This international sport climbing destination might be the best place in North America to enjoy some casual multi-pitch sport climbing. With 1000's of feet of limestone ridges and sweeping faces the desert atmosphere makes for some amazing climbing from late fall through spring. While summers can be hot there is generally shade to be found with the orientation of the canyon to keep climbing temperatures reasonable. It is a great location for anyone who can climb at least 5.8 and is wanting to learn to sport lead. While there isn't much in the way of trad climbing for anyone who wants to learn the basics of multi-pitch climbing this is a great location.
About an hour south of the town of Monterrey in Mexico there are excellent options for lodging and food that also make this a relatively inexpensive climbing destination for those already in the western hemisphere. While we offer privately guided climbs here this is also one of our regularly scheduled group climbing trips we offer through the winter.

Rates are per person, e.g. 3 people for a Regular Day would be $259/person for a total of $777. Trip start times are custom but generally we recommend 8AM starts for most rock climbing May through September to avoid heat, crowding, and afternoon thunderstorms.

I climbed the Crestone Traverse in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains with Jeremiah in August 2023, owner of the Colorado Climbing Company. Jeremiah was an outstanding guide. Besides utilizing his expertise on the climb, he cooked pizza for dinner and provided bagels for breakfast. He was a great instructor, had a sense of humor, and was patient. He is also an incredibly skilled alpinist. I used several guides this summer on technical climbs and my experience with him was unsurpassed.
