Forming the backdrop to the City of Boulder The Flatirons are an exciting guided climbing adventure. The lower angle east faces of formations such as the First Flatiron, Third Flatiron, and The Maiden are visible from town and only tower higher on the hike through the Ponderosa pines. The lower angle east faces, with their mountaineering feel, feature routes around a thousand feet in length that are great for beginning climbers or learning climbing skills. This also makes them great training for objectives like the Grand Teton or Mt. Whitney.
There is a great variety of different types of rock climbing in the park. The major formations we commonly guide climbers on such as the First and Third Flatiron have long east facing routes that are typically fairly easy, even for those with little to no experience. There are also some harder east faces we guide such as The Maiden which are a challenge for even the most experienced climbers. Meanwhile many of the west faces feature shorter climbing routes of a variety of styles hidden among the Ponderosa pines for climbers of diffferent abilities. There are also shorter formations such as Gregory Canyon that are perfect for beginners as well as more experienced climbers. Regardless of where you go a guided climbing trip in the Flatirons is an unforgettable experience.
