"Sarah and I had an awesome time. We were both impressed by and appreciated the fact that you actually taught us some of the finer points of climbing, rather than just setting a rope and saying "there you go." -Mike, Wisconsin

Guided Climbing El Potrero Chico Mexico
With hundreds of bolted rock climbs and mild temperatures it is no wonder that climbers flock to El Potrero Chico (little corral in English) every winter. The limestone cliffs of El Potrero vary from easier single pitch routes well suited to beginners to sport climbing big walls that are thousands of feet in height providing a challenge to even the most seasoned climber. After your guides pick you up from the airport you will be taken to our private casita which will serve as the base camp for our next week of climbing. In addition to enjoying the warmth and beautiful rock climbing, participants will also have the opportunity to learn rock climbing skills such as sport climbing and multi-pitch climbing. These trips are led at a low 2:1 ratio by our in house guides so you have the opportunity to meet or talk to them before hand and know who you will be climbing with. Once you are there you will have lots of time for individualized instruction as well. For more details check out the itinerary below.

What you Must Provide
Day 1-This is a travel day. Plan on arriving in Monterrey before 5pm local time. From here you will be transported to our shared accomodations in El Potrero where everyone can have nice authentic Mexican dinner and drinks while we make introductions and go over the next weeks itinerary. Day 2-After a nice breakfast this day will be devoted to getting used to the rock and getting to know each other in a single pitch environment. Climbers will spend the day going over basic skills and practice any skills that may need extra attention. After this we will finish the evening with a nice dinner and talk about the next day. Day 3-Today will be another casual single pitch day where climbers can enjoy the scenery and some fabulous limestone climbing. During this day we will also make sure climbers are comfortable with basic single pitch skills such as lead belaying, rappelling, and cleaning anchors. Over dinner we will discuss the objectives for the next day. Day 4-We may split the group up based on group members goals and desires with some continuing to enjoy single pitch cragging and some heading off to climb some of the bigger routes in the canyon.
Day 5-Today will be similar to the previous day with time spent over breakfast deciding on goals for the day. Climbers will have the opportunity to lead single pitch routes or bigger multi-pitch routes under the supervision of our guides. Optional Rest Day-for those who can't climb for a week straight or in case of a rainy day sometime during the week we can also relax in the hot springs that are just an hours drive or enjoy some of the nearby hiking as well.
Day 6-As this is one of the final days of climbing we will spend time at the beginning of the day making sure that climbers are confident with the skills they have learned and that everyone has accomplished their goals for the trip. From there we will head into the canyon to work on any skills or goals that have not been covered or to just climb and relax.
Day 7-This is the last day for everyone to climb so we will spend the day together doing some single pitch sport climbing as a whole group working on climbing technique and encouraging other climbers. The evening will be an opportunity to enjoy a final Mexican dinner and the company of new climbing friends.
Day 8-This is a travel day. Please arrange a flight departure for the afternoon. That morning over breakfast we will have a final debriefing of the entire climbing experience and say our goodbyes. Travel to the airport afterward is provided.
