We know you may have a lot of
questions about your climbing trip. So here are some of the more frequent
questions we receive. Don't hesitate to call or e-mail if you have other
questions, we would be happy to hlep you.
How early should I book my trip? The sooner the better although a couple weeks in advance is generally sufficient. While we can sometimes accomodate walk-ins or same day trips usually we cannot. The sooner in advance you book your trip the more likely it is we will have guides available for the date and location you are interested in.
Why should I
hire a climbing guide. I have experienced friends, can't I
learn from them? It is not a requirement that new climbers hire a climbing guide
but as is printed on the warning lables of almost all climbing equipment,
climbing is inherently risky. With proper instruction you can avoid or lessen
those risks. Climbing guides with professional training will make sure your
first climbing experience fits your goals and needs while instilling you with
good habits. Many climbers pick up dangerous habits from less experienced
climbers and may not learn as quickly as they'd like. By hiring someone with
professional training you can acquire the desired skills more efficiently and
avoid picking up any bad habits.
I have never climbed before. Do I need any sort of special
training or skills to climb? No training or experience is necessary although we
can teach many climbing skills to those who are interested in learning. We will
spend a few moments at the beginning of every climbing trip going over some
basic safety procedures and teaching you the basics necessary to keep everyone
safe during the day. If you would like to learn more about climbing our guided
climbing classes are offered on a scheduled basis or you can schedule a custom
guided course at your convenience.
I do not have any equipment. Do I
need to purchase or rent equipment so I can do this? If I have my own do I
have to use yours? Aside from appropriate clothing for the weather
during your trip there is no need to pay to purchase or rent climbing equipment.
Included in the cost of your guided climbing trip or class is all the climbing
equipment necessary. If you own your own equipment or decide you would like to
purchase equipment beforehand and would like to know how to use it we would be
gladly to show you how.
My family or friends are worried this is not a safe activity? Part of what makes climbing exciting is that as an adventure activity it has risk. By taking proper precautions dangers can largely be eliminated or reduced. We hire our guides on the basis of their ability to manage the risks that do exist while climbing so you can enjoy the activity without having to worry about being in danger anymore than when you drive home from your climbing trip.We have a safety record that speaks for itself and aside from minor scrapes and scratches all of our guests have come away from their climbing experience unscathed.
Should I tip my guide? Tipping is customary
in the guiding industry and lets your guide know they provided you with good
service. It is not a requirement but your guide will greatly
appreciate it. You can use other service industries like restaraunts as a
reference.
What is your cancellation policy? We do require a
deposit in order to reserve your trip or class. If for some reason you must
cancel that deposit and any amount paid will be refunded up until 48 hours
before the start of your trip. If you must cancel within 48 hours only half your
deposit will berefunded. Cancellations due to weather are fully refundable and
any rescheduled private trip will not incur additional charges

"Sarah and I had an awesome time. We were both impressed by and appreciated the fact that you actually taught us some of the finer points of climbing, rather than just setting a rope and saying "there you go." -Mike, Wisconsin
